Paul Macek, Publisher & Writer

In the above picture the author (Paul J. Macek, right) and the illustrator (James R. Morrison, left) stand at the rim of Havasupai Canyon, part of the Grand Canyon National Park. The setting provides an opportunity for a hike to Havasupai Falls, a rare and extraordinary place of beauty and charm within an austere and harsh desert environment.
Paul J. Macek taught history and English at St. Peter-Marian High School in Worcester, Massachusetts. He also has worked as a copyeditor and proofreader for publishing and typographic houses.
Paul and James have worked on a number of local historical projects in the towns of Webster, Dudley, and Oxford, Massachusetts. In 1991 and 1992 they constructed historical calendars for the tri-town area, which served to fund the printing of their first historical book. In 2000 Macek and Morrison published Early History of Webster, Dudley, and Oxford, a book representing the first-recorded history of Webster (1832) and Dudley (1732). Moreover, the work became a first of its kind to show the evolution of three townships in early America. The book presently approaches a third printing.
